Hello everyone and welcome!

Yesterday was the first Zaytouna Lounge tournament.  The courts were freshly made, a petanque heaven in the middle of Austin TX.  Amine Najah the owner of the place worked countless hours to welcome everyone for his vision to have petanque competition in his house.  This is a great acheivement no one has a set up like that as far as I know.   A Lounge with over  20 courts.  Amine generosity goes behind duty call.  The winners didn’t realized that the medals they got were collectables  from Amine personal collection that he had won since he played the game in Morocco at young age.  Really cool if you ask me.   The games started late but the Moroccan mint tea was flowing and the music was abundant.  For his first tournament 15 teams show up even a team from San Antonio.  He did  two groups with the  Swiss system but again Amine  was  generous  and took 4  teams of each group to go into quarter of final. The battle in the final was a French team from San Antonio  against one of our local team from HOT.  The final  didn’t finish until 10:40 PM.   Austin won 13/8

The final was exciting.   For a team  put together at the last minute between Jacques and Jim it turned out to be a great combination.  The team from SA were experienced players.   Uncle and nephew.  The shooting of Nicolas the 21 year old  French player from Tours was delightful to witness as well the pointing of Patric who learned the game in St Tropez.    I was clapping right and left for both teams.  But HOT got the upper hand and finished strong.  Congratulation  to Jacques and Jim for their first win representing the club.

First place: Jacques Richard and Jim Schwobel

Second place: Partric Lanchais and Nicolas Bienvenu

Third place : Dan Power and Christian Garces

A + Love Arsene
