Hello everyone and welcome.

Cecilia and Gerald  Lankes just became new members of HOT and this is what they have to say how they discovered the game of Petanque.

Gerard and Cecilia

While celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary in Southern France last year
we happened to walk by a park near our hotel in Antibes. We saw several
groups of people playing a strange game with steel balls. They appeared to
be very focused on the game while having a lot of fun. As we drove around
France, we saw people playing the game everywhere. Cecilia and I decided we
were going to learn the game and how to play.  Back in Austin we mentioned
the game to several people, but they knew nothing about it. One day we were
having dinner with some friends who knew about the game and one of them gave
us a business card from the Zaytouna Lounge here in Austin. We called and
spoke with Amine, who immediately invited us over to explain the game and to
play. He gave us a business card to Petanque America. We visited their
website, ordered equipment and saw that there was going to be a tournament
at Amelia Island. We called and spoke with Susan. She told us about the
tournament and signed us up. We had a wonderful time playing at the
tournament. Now we are having a wonderful time playing here at the French
Legation here in Austin. We hope to be better prepared to play at the
Petanque America Open next year on Amelia Island.
