HOT NEWS! PETANQUE AROUND THE WORLD

Hello everyone and welcome!    In any club there is people playing the game from all walk of life.  In the Heart of Texas petanque club there is no exception  we have plumber,politician,magicians,jugglers,acrobats,chiropractor,entrepreneur,restaurateur,engineer,nurses,executive chef, artistes,website designer,musicians,puppeteer,comedians,actors, etc.. and we have  Thierry and Rachel  Amisse.  Thierry  is a professional wood worker from Brittany France. He as been working with wood for 30 years.   He does have an eye for fine details that does reflect when he play the game of petanque.  They both loves to travel around the world and discover new horizon. As the matter of fact they meet each other on the road somewhere in Honduras.  Lately they returned  from a nine months trip that took them from Europe, Laos,Thailand,India,Nepal.  Thierry had  the opportunity to play  the game in many situation that many of us will never have the chance to experience. Because of his( bon vivant )attitude, he was welcomed to play with some of the local champions,gamblers and family’s. The pictures speaks for themselves. Welcome back home Thierry and Rachel and thank you for those amazing pictures that give us a different understanding of the approach of the game.

HOT NEWS! COLORADO PETANQUE

Hello everyone and welcome!  Back in Colorado for the Renaissnce Faire Entertainment.  The State is struggling with some fires going all around.   Here everyone is safe so far. We have to be careful  when we play Petanque. It is so dry that  carreaux could spark up a flame. Several years back I created a small court in a back of a French restaurant that is now under a new management and no longer serving French food but kept the nice atmosphere  and with great food as well FaerieTales is owned and operated by the mom and daughter team of Marty and Lindsay Williamson and Marcella Bakehouse and Catering Serving Colorado Springs and Surrounding Areas 719~375~5651 1015 West Colorado Avenue, COlorado SPrings, CO, 80904  The owners still welcome us playing Petanque in their backyard every wednesday night. The local group from Colorado Springs played there all winter.  And of course I get to play with my performers friends at the festival more like extreme petanque. A+ Love Arsene

HOT NEWS! HEART OF TEXAS ANNUAL PANACHE TOURNAMENT

Hello everyone and welcome!

On Sunday  June 3,2012.  We had our annual club Panache right before a moon eclipse at Pease Park.  It was a little late in the season of Texas to have a tournament because  the weather start  already to be  so hot.  It was no exception we did reach  95 but with clouds cover the whole day  sweet!  The location was where we first created the club.  This time it was a triplette mix Panache, meaning every time you go against a new team you have two new partner in your team at random and each time you play you keep a score card.  I learned  this system at La boule New Yorkaise club.  I had never played that format before but this type of tournament did teach me that it is a great system among clubs members.   It does  give the opportunity to everyone to have a change against the better players as well as having the chance to play with everyone. So it was the first time we did it and it was  great success. The brackets were put together and organized  by Ed priest.   Twenty four members were there.  Perfect number, that gave everyone the chance to play five games.  Everyone  played sauvage style on the running path of the park.  It is a classic format in France even in hight level competition like in Millau where  everyone plays anywhere in the park since the game is supposed to be played on any grounds.  But for players who usually play on groomed courts it is a lot more difficult to adjust.  Everyone had great fun, the food and drinks were plenty.  The games started at 9:15am and finished around 5 pm.   After calculating all the score cards of each players the results were:

Triplette First place: Tommy Wood, Ed Priest, Amine najah

Triplette Second place:  Magical Mystical Micheal, Christine Lee,  Guillaume Smith

Triplette Third place:  Bob Marshall, Matt Curtis, Peter Gray
